This book is so honest and inspiring. The handwriting snippets really touched me, adding even more authenticity to Nellie's story. Her story can surely inspire other kids and adults who are struggling, because she shows how she found a way to a bright future, persevering beyond all the doubts she had as she grew up with dyslexia and anxiety. This is definitely a book that many people can learn from, whether or not they have dyslexia themselves.

A must read for everyone!
Since elementary school I have struggled with my dyslexia and comprehension levels, often ashamed of the fact that I had difficulty reading children books when I was in middle school. At some point I found ways around my struggles with reading and it is one of my favorites things to do.
This author described not only in words but in visual language the daily struggles many of us experience. There is something in the knowledge that you are not alone and others have the same fears as you, that makes it easier to face everything head on. Remember you matter.

What a wonderful resource for people who feel different or out of place. Handwritten excerpts from her personal childhood journal make this book completely relatable. As a fifth grade teacher, I will read this book to all my classes as an example of a growth mindset and make it available to students when they need a dose of sincere encouragement and hope.

Excellent insight and writing about a personal struggle with the learning disorder. Hand written memories and thought provoking details make this a great read for anyone who has dyslexia or any educational barrier before them. Designed for children, adults and teachers.

I just downloaded the Kindle version of her book...her story is SUCH an inspiration!!! (I also love how she gave real-life examples of challenges and strengths of dyslexia). I would love to share her book with other ESE teachers to share with students across SJCSD.
