School & Library Visits

Bringing the Magic to Your Classroom

Inclusive Storytelling & Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Workshops with Nellie Nakhel

As an educator and author, my mission is to ensure every child sees themselves as the hero of their own story. Whether we are navigating the "Waves of Anxiety," sliding across the ice with Henry the Penguin, or learning resilience from a furry friend, these visits are designed to spark curiosity, build empathy, and celebrate the unique light within every student.

🐾 Meet Special Guest: Jamie!

Our stories are deeply inspired by real life! For select in-person visits, my real-life puppy, Jamie—a hypoallergenic, incredibly friendly Havanese—loves to join the literacy excitement as a live visual aid or stationary mascot.

⚠️ A Note on Comfort & Safety: To keep our presentations calm, focused, and entirely stress-free for school staff, all in-person options strictly enforce a "viewing-only / no-touch" rule. Jamie stays safely at his visual station, keeping the spotlight exactly where it belongs: on storytelling, literacy, and inclusion.

Option 1: Large Group Assembly
  • Best for: School assemblies, multi-grade groups, or media center gatherings.

  • The Experience: A large-group reading and interactive discussion centered on equity-based children's books, writing inspiration, and overcoming life's challenges. Jamie joins as an engaging live visual aid. Book signings after speaking optional.

  • Booking Details: $300 presentation feeOR — the presentation fee is fully waived if the school or PTA pre-purchases 25 paperback copies of any title ($300 value) to be distributed directly to classrooms or the school library!

Option 2: Literacy Spotlight
  • Best for: School book fairs, literacy nights, daytime family programming, or community markets.

  • The Experience: An author booth setup. I meet families individually, host a scheduled group read-aloud session, and offer personally signed paperbacks from my full collection. Jamie acts as a mascot behind the table to draw families into the stories.

  • Booking Details: No booking fee required! This community format is funded entirely through direct book sales, requiring a dedicated author table where families have the opportunity to purchase signed books to expand their home libraries.

  • Best for: Distant classrooms or quick daytime sessions requiring zero travel or animal logistics.

  • The Experience: A live, high-energy 20-to-30-minute virtual session via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. I read a story up close to the camera, introduce Jamie on-screen, and open up the floor to take live questions from the students.

  • Booking Details: $100 for a single 30-minute session | $180 for a full 60-minute block.

Option 3: Virtual Visit
